Christian Brockman

Karl A. Cole-Frieman (Counsel) Christian advises investment managers of all sizes in the organization, operation, and re-organization of their investment advisory businesses. He primarily assists investment managers on the structuring, formation, and operation of domestic and offshore private investment funds across a range of investment strategies and asset classes (including hedge, private equity, real estate, venture capital, and “hybrid” private investment funds). Christian also counsels investment managers on business and regulatory matters related to their business, including contract review and negotiation and registration and compliance with the varied state, federal, and international laws affecting their business.

Christian has also represented institutional clients, including sovereign wealth funds, public and private pension plans, and foundations and endowments, in their review of private fund investments and in the negotiation of related transactions, including negotiation of managed account agreements, single investor fund documents, and side letters.

Prior to joining Cole-Frieman & Mallon LLP, Christian was an associate in the Investment Funds, Advisers, and Derivatives practice at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco and, prior to that, an associate in the Financial Services Group at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, splitting time between New York and Washington, D.C. Christian received his undergraduate degree (with honors) from the University of Chicago and his law degree from New York University School of Law. Christian is admitted to practice in California, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Christian lives his wife and daughter in Redwood City, California.
